Modal is considered an environmentally friendly fiber because the raw materials are grown sustainably, the manufacturing process controls carbon dioxide emissions , and waste is minimized by recovering raw materials.

Another characteristic of modal is its resistance to shrinkage and toughness when wet, as well as its resistance to losing its shape and shedding fluff.

The short pile is less likely to snag and  cool feel makes it more comfortable.
